If you own a business or building, are a landlord, or are involved in any non-domestic premises, you need to be aware of the current legislation regarding Building Safety/Fire legislation.
The Building Safety Act 2022: section 156, came into play on the 1st of October 2023, and states that there are additional requirements for ALL businesses, especially small independent businesses.
Be aware that there is now a LEGAL REQUIREMENT to ensure that a fire risk assessment has been carried out and that fire safety arrangements have been made and that they are recorded, regardless of how many employees you have.

Whilst it has always been law to make arrangements for fire safety if you employ less than 5 people, there was never a requirement to record these findings, until now!
A sole trader, for example, must now have a written record of their fire risk assessment together with their fire safety arrangements.
There may also be other changes that could affect you and your business. You can take a look at the Government website that covers the latest updates here…
If you need a fire risk assessment to be carried out at your premises, or need any other fire safety checks, training or arrangements, contact us today.
